SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES -- It's a sad day for the Australian music industry; especially with the likes of Nick Ivers of Urban Sounds Entertainment and Christian Alexander in the picture. These two individuals are somewhat of a "Dream Team" when it comes to seeking out investors for projects and then not repaying their debts when things go wrong.
With three investors to date (and there are definitely more) who have lost upwards of $100,000.00 each, you would think Christian Alexander and Nick Ivers are living the high life. Not true, Christian Alexander is notorious for spending large amounts of money in a small time frame; similar to those individuals he looks up to in TV shows such as "The Sopranos" or Australia's very own "Underbelly". One could only assume that the money is used to live the high life, impress members of the opposite sex, and support an ever increasing drug habit.
Nick Ivers (A&R for Urban Sounds Entertainment, a company which, Christian's parents own according to the business registry) is also a unique individual. Ivers is 21 years old, and professes to be somewhat of a seasoned veteran in the Australian music industry (when in actual reality he has only limited experience and the experience he does have was learned from Alexander). Ivers acts on behalf of Christian Alexander to secure deals and reel in the line once an investor has taken the bait.
"The Dream Team" as I will refer to them as, are extremely good at what they do. Christian Alexander had a hit around 6 years back, and this is what he presents to investors. Claiming to have reached "gold" sales on the track Too Fine featuring Ja Rule, and also Misunderstood. In actual fact these two tracks add up to around 38,000 sales in Australia, with numbers in the hundreds in Asia and the United States. It has been said, and is no secret, that Christian is always working on his next bigger and better project which he needs funding for; and in return millions will be made for both parties. These projects range from poorly recorded dance style albums to his signature style RnB.
Christian currently has a countless number of signed contracts out there, which for some reason; no one will breach him for. These include management, publishing and record deals. One manager has told me that he was under the impression he was Christians official manager until he received a call from another one of Christians managers demanding sums of money.
The frustrating thing for these companies is that, it is almost impossible to track and trace these other contracts. "The Dream Team" are extremely good at buying time and making excuses as to why they cannot (the contracts) be produced.
Because Christian can present well, and also has limited musical ability, investors tend to get a little excited and go ahead with deals. Christian is a very desperate and persistent individual; at times, can be very convincing. With Christians past hits to back up his profile, people will generally sign off on the deal he is offering, no matter how unrealistic the deal in question may be.
Once Christian has drained the investor out of as much as he can, things begin to turn very nasty. Investors and business people usually get to a point where they know they have wasted their money, and it is time to recoup before any further funds are handed over. Once a manager/investor or third party stop putting money into the "bogus" projects (I call them bogus as multiple numbers of people own ALL his music and albums), Christian begins his tirade of abuse and empty threats. These range from using high flying solicitor Mr. Jules Munro (of the Simpson group of solicitors in Sydney, whom in fact has not worked on behalf of Christian for over 2 years) to sue the investor for sabotage, and various other lies, unless he writes off the debt; all the way to getting his "people" to visit homes of individuals to intimidate them. Of course, this has never happened, as Christian is also a compulsive liar and lives in his world where the lies he creates, become reality in his own mind. I have also been informed that "The Dream Team" has recently put out "hits" on other industry and night club professionals (including his x management firm). Something which is said out of anger and frustration (because the flow of money has stopped) is very quickly turning into something that could resemble the mean streets of Los Angeles.
Recently Christian has been dropped from a management firm, and leaving there, with a sum of around $70,000.00 owed. The directors of the company are proceeding with a court case and rounding up other investors which Christian has fleeced of funds (two of which are already to go to press), to make sure this does not happen to any other companies looking at investing into Christian. One of the associates with this company has had a colorful past himself, but as he firmly told me "The people who matter know about my history, the ones who don't know, I'm sure will know in time, it is something I am ashamed of, but it did happen over five years ago, and everyone changes". This associate of Christians latest management firm only mentioned this to me as he was informed that Nick Ivers will "reveal all", to everyone and expose him for the "scum bag" he is. I personally don't see how someone could be called a "scum bag" when they have invested over $65,000.00 into a bogus deal which was destined to go nowhere.
