Genius - Hollywood Style and Grandma's Pin-up Boy written by Maurice Zimm. Zimm is most notably author and creator of Creature from the Black Lagoon and has numerous other radio, television and film projects to his credit.
Grandma's Pin-up Boy is the authorized autobiography of the first movie star, Francis X. Bushman. The project was abandoned in 1948 just before completion. Bushman's first hand account of the founding of Hollywood, his meteoric rise to fame and his ensuing downfall makes for a remarkable piece of literature. Genius - Hollywood Style is the thinly veiled first hand account of retired William Morris agent Mike Zimring, Maurice Zimm's brother.
Mike Zimring's first job was as Orson Welles' secretary during the 1940s. The novel is actually a chronicle of Welles' battles with the legendary studio head, Harry Cohn, his turbulent romance with Rita Hayworth, and the production of The Lady from Shanghai. Razor like wit, sharp and insightful characterizations, the novel moves at a narcotic like speed through the maelstrom that was 1940s Hollywood.
