HOUSTON, TX -- I remember back in 2006 reading press releases concerning the movie Color of the Cross which was dubbed by movie critics and journalists alike to be a very controversial film. What I found interesting was just a few years prior to the release of this film there was a movie entitled The Passion of The Christ which was praised to be the authentic depiction of the Christ. The plethora of ridicule the motion picture Color of the Cross incited within the movie industry really intrigued me to the point that I just recently rented it from Netflix. After viewing the film I saw nothing that warranted such ridicule in fact it was a gentle and peaceful film. The only difference I noticed between the film Color of the Cross and The Passion of The Christ was the Christ was depicted as a black man.
As a Mexican-American whom was raised in the Catholic faith I found myself in a dilemma because according the biblical text the Christ was described as having hair of wool and skin of bronze. However every film or book I have ever read depicts the Christ as a fair skinned, gentleman with blue eyes as seen in The Passion of The Christ. To my astonishment someone sent me a link to iTunes with an album called the Color of the Cross Tribute. I don't know if this was a stroke of faith or it just happened by chance either way I proceeded to click the link to listen to the album, I was totally amazed by what I heard. It touched me to the point that I began to seek out the musical group Tri-Souls that produced the Color of the Cross Tribute record.
I contacted the group Tri-Souls and to my surprise they graciously agreed to have one member of the group speak with me. His name was Hebrew many whom I spoke with proclaimed Hebrew to be a prophet sent from Eli-Yahweh (God). Since I had just recently seen the film Color of the Cross, I wanted to know why they titled the album Color of the Cross Tribute. Hebrew said to me "After we met with the director and star of the film Jean Claude LaMarre we thanked him for presenting the Messiah in his authentic depiction, and for calling him by his true name, Yahshua. I gave Mr. LaMarre my word we Tri-Souls would do an album in tribute to his amazing movie. So we titled the album Color of the Cross Tribute. Hebrew's calm and humble disposition had me taken a back but I proceeded to ask him questions concerning songs from the album. I loved the album my favorite song was the "Lord of lords and King of kings" so I asked him what was the inspiration behind such a beautiful song? "Yahweh, for he is our majesty, and we give him all praise and glory for he is the Lord of lords and King of kings." Another beautiful selection from the album I would like to know more about is the song "The Night Yah Come". What invoke you to write this particular song? "I do not write songs, I write hymns in praise of the Most High, this hymn declares how I can't wait for the end of this world as we know it, and the beginning of a new world where love precedes hate." As I spoke with Hebrew I was truly impressed with his demeanor, and presence I knew this album would be a wonderful change for the world considering the type of music played today.
So I asked where can people purchase the Color of the Cross Tribute album? They can purchase it from www.divineunity1.com/Mall, www.myspace.com/trisoulz,, iTunes (all stores worldwide), Rhapsody, MediaNet (formerly MusicNet), Sony Connect, eMusic, Groupie Tunes, and AmazonMP3.
In my meager desire to learn more about the motion picture Color of the Cross I opened up Pandora's Box filled with ideas, and questions concerning the authentic depiction of the Christ. I was very impressed with the thing I learned from Hebrew about the Hebrew Israelites of African descent. I encourage everyone to go out and purchase this extraordinary record and support the wonderful talent of Tri-Souls in the Color of the Cross Tribute.
