Traffic Increases as Liverpool Firm Relaunches Cult Motoring Website

Jul 14, 2007

LIVERPOOL, UK -- A Liverpool IT consultancy which won the contract to redesign a prestigious automotive website has seen a huge increase in visitor numbers as a result of their recent work.

David Coveney, owner of Interconnect IT (www.interconnectit.com), was persuaded to submit a bid after reading about it at www.sniffpetrol.com. "As web designers and motorsport enthusiasts we realised that we already had a good understanding of what the owner wanted, and we succeeded because we were able to completely redesign the site to suit the needs of the owner and his audience".

The new site is based around a custom-built template which carries over the design of the old site whilst making it easier to navigate and update. Web traffic has grown rapidly since the relaunched site went live on 1st July as users familiarise themselves with the new features and interact with the site in new ways: "using the analytical tools which are built in to all Interconnect IT websites, we are able to track visitors and see what types of content are having the most success" says David. "This tool can be invaluable for businesses wishing to analyse and maximise their Return On Investment as it can provide up to the minute information on how the site is being used".

The site's 'engine' allows users to update the look and content of their site without having to learn a single line of code. The site previously relied on a time-consuming coding and image manipulation process to produce the desired results, which meant the site's owner Richard Porter, who maintains the site whenever he's not editing scripts for Top Gear, was spending increasing amounts of time ensuring that the site performed in the required manner:

"The Content Management System allows me to post articles and images as soon as they are completed, and the custom template takes care of page layouts, user comments and archiving. The new design enables me to update the site quickly and often, which greatly reduces my workload".

By using free open source software, versatile, standards compliant web sites are now accessible to a huge range of companies and individuals who are looking for a new outlet for their products or services. Interconnect IT are hoping that Sniff Petrol will prove to be a useful accelerant for their online ambitions.
