Government New Car Cash Assistance Available
Jul 23, 2009
TUCSON, AZ -- The National Highway Transportation Safety Agency (NHTSA) has introduced the CARS program, a federally funded program that provides up to $4,500 assistance towards the purchase or lease of a new fuel-efficient vehicle when consumers trade in a qualifying 1985 or newer fuel-inefficient vehicle. O'Rielly Chevrolet is pleased to announce their participation in this program as a registered dealership.
"The main objective of the CARS program is to help drivers trade in their gas guzzlers at a registered dealership by providing cash assistance towards the lease or purchase of a new fuel efficient vehicle," said Rob Draper, General Manager of O'Rielly Chevrolet. He added, "Like any government program, it's complicated, but only for the dealer. Our expert staff is fully knowledgeable in all aspects of this program, and we make is easy for our customers. Just come in to O'Rielly and let us handle all the details for you."
Through this program, the government will provide $3,500 or $4,500 towards the purchase or lease of a new, more fuel efficient car, truck, van or SUV (up to $45,000) when the consumer trades in an eligible 1985 or newer vehicle in drivable condition. The amount of the credit depends on the difference in fuel economy between the old and new vehicles. The old vehicle must have a fuel economy rating of 18 mpg or less, and the new vehicle must have a fuel economy rating of 22 mpg or more. The CARS program will end November 1, 2009, or when the NHTSA's $1 billion in allocated funding is depleted, whichever occurs first.
Draper continued, "Best of all, the credit is not a loan, so it doesn't need to be repaid, and it's combinable with any existing dealer, manufacturer, and government discounts and rebates. And if your trade is worth more than the credit, we'll give you what your trade is worth"
"Chevy has more new vehicles that qualify than any other brand. Combined with O'Rielly Chevrolet's already low prices, the CARS program rebate makes owning or leasing a new Chevy more affordable than ever," said Carlos Tribolet, General Sales Manager. "This is the best opportunity that consumers have been given in quite a while, and with financing rates as low as zero percent, this is definitely the best time to consider purchasing or leasing a new O'Rielly Chevrolet. This is a win-win situation that will help consumers get a newer vehicle that will save them money on gas, while also helping to conserve our natural resources."
