MESA, ARIZONA -- The Board of Directors of Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation is pleased to name Terry Benelli as their new Executive Director effective April 2, 2007.
Ms. Benelli, who was promoted from Business Manager, has been active with community development projects, HOA Boardmembers' training and community organizing in Mesa for over twenty years As Executive Director, Ms. Benelli will oversee day to day operations working closely with the Board of Directors to accomplish the goals and objectives of Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation.
Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation has been a private, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) lending entity since 1997. Based in Mesa, their mission is to finance businesses and stimulate economic development opportunity in low and moderate income communities and neighborhoods of the East Valley. Loans have ranged from $2,500 to $2.5 million with a lending partner in Minnesota. Ms. Benelli looks forward to "advancing the collaborative partnership between private and public sectors and meeting community reinvestment and community development goals, in Mesa and other communities of the East Valley."
Outgoing Executive Director Karen La France stated: "Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation is on the cusp of service and program expansion for revitalization projects in West Mesa and other neighborhoods. Ms. Benelli's long-time leadership in Mesa community empowerment and development will be a perfect fit to further the corporation’s objectives."
Ms. LaFrance has taken the position of Executive Director of the newly- formed Salt River Financial Services Institution, a nonprofit lender for members of the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community.
