TEMECULA, CA -- Long standing members of Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce, Greater Riverside Chamber of Commerce, Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce and Murrieta Chamber of Commerce, Autumn Leaf Investment Club continues its commitment as an advocate for our members and community. Whether it is a new acquisition, business restructure, business credit development, short sale, foreclosure, credit management, short-pay off or any number of professional needs; members have learned they can count on Autumn Leaf Investment Club to always be there for them. With our steadfast commitment in mind, Autumn Leaf Investment Club joined over 60 National Real Estate Investors Association members to meet with our nation's elected leaders in Washington, D.C. Autumn Leaf Investment Club was able to be the voice and advocate for thousands of members and entrepreneurs around the country at over 50 meetings and special presentations by Congressional Representatives. We were able to introduce Autumn Leaf Investment Club's strength in both numbers of small businesses and also as an industry leader with extensive educational resources.
The first day began with a reception and a two-hour briefing on protocols and issues. Issues that included the "credit crunch" and how it was affecting small businesses and entrepreneurs around the country. Autumn Leaf Investment Club spent some valuable time putting a face on the national "investor," so that our elected officials realize that we provide housing that is so sorely needed across the nation. Making Congress realize that without the investor, many of our Section 8 recipients would not have the high quality and safe housing that Autumn Leaf Investment Club has been able to provide to hundreds of clients. The realization of how many homes are provided around the country by the "greedy" investor was an awakening for many of the Congressmen and women that Autumn Leaf Investment Club was fortunate enough to have time with.
Autumn Leaf Investment Club continued our Day on the Hill, which was a full weekend of meetings and powerful communication with our elected leaders. Another focus of our time in Washington was to advocate powerful legislation that benefits the investor and thereby improves our ability to help in the economic recovery we continue to need in our nation. In partnership with the National Real Estate Investors Association, we were able to present information on powerful tax benefits and program restructuring for the rehabbing investor. Making it clear that the current programs and tax code is punitive to the investor was an important goal. We are hopeful that Congress will continue to learn that many builders and rehabbers would welcome the opportunity to create notes and mortgages if they were allowed to pay the tax in the year that the money is actually received. Unfortunately, currently it is not set up this way and therefore it is a punitive tax for builders and rehabbers to do so currently. Autumn Leaf Investment Club was there proposing changes and putting the Legislative Agent (lobbyist) Barry Lefkowitz, provided by the National Real Estate Investors Association, to work on those changes. There are no short-term solutions, this is a long-term problem and will continue to be an important part of the work done at Autumn Leaf Investment Club.
It was a privilege and honor meeting with so many Representatives and Senators on the hill. Regardless of personal politics, Autumn Leaf Investment Club is sincerely thankful to all the officials we met with for their years of public service to our country. We appreciate the difficult task before them of representing a broad and diverse constituency. Our meetings with Congressional Representatives and their Legislative Assistants were powerful and productive. Autumn Leaf Investment Club was privileged to discuss our national situation on the hill, but more importantly we were able to focus on our local representatives on how important it is to our California economy that investors have access to the tools needed to succeed, namely BUSINESS CREDIT. Autumn Leaf Investment Club will continue to represent our local and national member's interests earnestly and keep you updated to what is facing us in this turbulent economic time. We are proud to say that Autumn Leaf Investment Club is still here for its members and fellow small business owners. Autumn Leaf Investment Club is also proud to announce the beginning process of becoming the local representative (Southern California) and organizer for the National Real Estate Investors Association. We'll keep everyone updated to the exciting progress and the powerful influence this creates for everyone that is part of Autumn Leaf Investment Club and our local community.
