Las Vegas' Most Historic Hotel and Casino Embraces New Technology

Jul 22, 2007

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- The Golden Gate Hotel & Casino, established 1906, has finally embraced the technology of the future and bid a nostalgic farewell to the jingle jangle of coins demanded by slot players for decades at the historic hotel. The Golden Gate recently went live with a new slot system and slot machines that eliminated all use of coin in favor of ticket-in - ticket-out technology, which has been the industry standard for several years. Mark Brandenburg, the Golden Gate's owner and operator, said "We are extremely proud of our historical roots, and we held out for as long as we could; but we finally had to acknowledge that we were selling 8-track tapes in an iPod market." "We want to blend our vintage Vegas heritage with cutting-edge technology. That combination, to me, is the real Vegas."

The new technology enabled the Golden Gate to create its first players club, named Club 1906. Such clubs have become very popular in the industry and provide the hotels with the ability to identify and more effectively market to customers. The very first player's card for Club 1906, bearing the number "1," was presented by Brandenburg to one of the Golden Gate's oldest customers, 94-year-old Alma Margaret Creel. Ms. Creel, a local who has been patronizing the Golden Gate for more than 30 years, tearfully accepted the new card. She noted that she would miss some of the old slot machines, but she stated, "The Golden Gate has always been my favorite casino." She loves the Golden Gate and is delighted to be a founding member of Club 1906. When presented with the card, Ms. Creel said, "I am shocked. I am so surprised. This is a great honor."

Between now and labor day, new players will receive free gifts for signing up, and can win a variety of prizes based upon the amount of points they earn while they play.
