Support the 'Help Stefan' Campaign
Sep 03, 2007
They are therefore entirely dependent on handouts and live a hand-to-mouth existence. These are the forgotten refugees, still suffering the after-effects of civil wars over seven years ago. Like most of the regfugees Stefan has been sorely abused in many ways, both physical and emotional during the past seven years and like many of the other refugees she believed her etire family murdered. Indeed, her mother and brothers are dead yet, she has just found that her father, Alfred Doris remains alive. Yet, in a cruel twist of fate he is gravely ill in hospital in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This campaign aims to help re-unite Stefan with her father, gaining safe passage for her to Freetown. Also the aim is to raise sufficient monet that her father can receive the potentially life-saving surgery that he requires, but cannot afford. Donations to this campaign will allow Stefan and Zogo to re-build their lives, to come to the UK and to start afresh with a new life and new horizons. Donations above and beyond these requirements will go directly to the Liberian community in Dakar, to give them a safety net as a community and to re-open the English-language school that the UN used to run and which is now closed. Your donations will make a real difference to people who have suffered so much and lost everything. Please help me ensure that these survivors are not forgotten by the world. Help me give them new hope and a new life.
