Celebrating the American Christmas

Nov 23, 2007

MANALAPAN, NEW JERSEY -- Bridge Biography American History Company is sponsoring a short essay contest that asks: If you could invite any figure from American history to your family's holiday dinner, who would you invite and why?  The winner of the contest will receive the American Christmas dinner of their dreams in the form of a two hundred and fifty dollar gift certificate to the food store or restaurant of their choice.

The contest is being held to commemorate the release of The American Christmas, a gift collection of original holiday greeting cards from the 1930s through the 1950s that evoke the warmest feelings of our country's holiday seasons past.  Every card is an American holiday season frozen in time, giving viewers the opportunity to be transported to a bygone era in our nation's history.  The vintage cards are attractively framed and matted, making each one a unique work of art.

Bridge Biography American History Company was founded by twenty-nine year old Matthew Litt, Esq., after he resigned from his job at a prestigious Manhattan law firm to pursue a more meaningful calling.  Litt describes the mission of Bridge Biography as "the preservation of American history and the promotion of its beauty and importance."

The inspiration for The American Christmas vintage card collection came as Litt was writing a book entitled The First Christmas; a Historical Account of the Holiday Season of 1945.  The book, scheduled for release next year, takes readers on a cherished trip through the first holiday season following the conclusion of the Second World War.  Litt explains, "The holidays of the 1930s-1950s were especially meaningful; the challenges of the era made Americans appreciate peace, freedom and each other in a uniquely powerful way."

The short essay contest is intended to serve as a catalyst for reflection on the topic of American heroes.  Children are encouraged to participate with the permission of a parent or guardian.  All entries are due by December 18, 2007.  To enter, or for more information regarding the essay contest or The American Christmas vintage card collection, log onto TheAmericanChristmas.com, or call Matthew Litt at (908)770-7533.
