Doctors Without Borders Charity Poker Tournament sponsored by SBR Poker

Dec 15, 2011
"So far, 48 donations have been received totaling $1275 with community members donating over and above the minimum $25 donation."

COSTA RICA -- SBR Poker announces its "Doctors Without Borders" Charity Online Poker Tournament this Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 3:00pm EST. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Doctors Without Borders organization.

SBR Forum's betting enthusiasts sign up every year to help a particular charity get closer to their goal. Over $7000 has been raised for charities such as St. Judes Children's Research Hospital and The Salvation Army.

This year, SBR Forum has chosen Doctors Without Borders because of its commitment to provide independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care or natural disasters.

How can you be a part of this great event? Sign up now at the Charity Online Poker Tournament thread on SBR Forum. Download the free poker software; make a donation thru our exclusive firstgiving.com's donation page to receive the password for the Saturday event at 3pm EST.

SBR Forum has donated prizes for tournament participants in the form of SBR Points that can be redeemed immediately at our SBR Store for electronics, gift certificates, and swag. Prize pool is as follows: 1st - 1500pts; 2nd - 1000pts; 3rd - 700pts; 4th - 500pts; 5th - 300pts.

So far, 48 donations have been received totaling $1275 with community members donating over and above the minimum $25 donation. George T., a veteran SBR Forum member, was one of the first donations recorded. When asked what inspired him to participate, he said ""I donated to Drs. Without Borders because it is important to remember that as bad things can be for me and other Americans at least (in general). We all enjoy our health and a comparatively high quality of life than those less fortunate." When asked why he has been a long time SBR Forum member, he responded "I came to SBR in the summer of 2008 searching for help with a slow paying online sportsbook. I stayed for the amazing contests and giveaways and the awesome community of like minded SOBs."

John Walker, founder of SBR Forum, is passionate about giving back to the community and staying involved with charitable organizations. When asked what kind of turnout he expects, he replied "We already have 48 individual donations which already exceeds expectations. I'm glad that our community is always willing to give to a deserving charity such as Doctors Without Borders".
