Trail Matching Funds Withheld Until After the Destiny Vote in Central Iowa

Jul 06, 2007
"NoLocalOption.com has also secured a possible donor for the matching funds that could release the money for the Neil Smith trail work right away."

SAYLORVILLE, IA -- Staggering new evidence that bike trail work has been delayed by Project Destiny has Central Iowans outraged.

NoLocalOption.com has been informed the matching funds for trails, including the reconditioning of the Neil Smith trail, have been withheld for unknown reasons. The Army Corps has verified the federal funding that Lenard Boswell got for the trails has been delivered and is waiting for matching funds prior to delivery.

NoLocalOption also learned that funds have been matched without delay until this year. With the sales tax vote on July 10th, one might conclude there has been a conspiracy to delay the matching until after the Project Destiny vote.  NoLocalOption.com has also secured a possible donor for the matching funds that could release the money for the Neil Smith trail work right away.

Cycle club members report that emails went out last year describing the closing of the Neil Smith trail for reconditioning in April. No work ever happened. The funds are sitting there ready for use but no one wants them right now.  NoLocalOption.com is currently getting bids for the Neil Smith reconditioning work.
