Jason Steele Responds to Florida Today Editorial
Mar 18, 2008
Florida Today has printed an opinion stating the ultrasound is an ideological "ploy" in an effort to block a woman's right to choose. In the same editorial a number of issues that the editorial board has deemed "frivolous bills" such as insuring creationism is included in classrooms and a person's right to bear arms was also labeled as "wasting time". "As a 'social conservative' it is my opinion that allowing for diverging ideas is the stuff this country was founded on. Creationism is a part of many individuals' beliefs and the editorial staff should not fear this inclusion in the classroom. Freedom of speech is a fundamental right that does not only belong to the media but to the people as a whole," said Mr. Steele. "As for the right to bear arms resolution, the bill allows for legal permit holders to secure their weapons in their vehicles while at their place of employment. This does not deny firms from regulating their workplace but only ensure the second amendment rights of our citizens," Steele said. Jason Steele is an American politician who was a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1980 to 1982. His district included portions of Brevard County. He is currently a candidate for Florida House District 31 to replace term-limited Representative Mitch Needelman. ### Keywords: florida today, brevard county, jason steele, florida, brevard, satellite beach Government » Local |
