UK Immigration Collect Bio Metric Data on UK Soil for the First Time.

Apr 27, 2008

WORLD WIDE -- The pilot scheme requires all Non E.U. nationals who apply to remain longer in the UK to attend Lunar House in person where they will be subject to a Bio Metrics collection process. The Home Office are set on collection of the data as part of their "Securing our boarders" drive and part of the managed Migration programme where they will soon be rolling the scheme out to all people who wish to extend their leave to remain in the UK regardless of the reason. While in the autumn of this year plans for a face scanning system for E.U Nationals will be launched at major ports.

What will this system allow the Government to do that the old system did not? A spokes person for a leading authority on UK Immigration Law said "It is hard at first to recognise all the ways in which this data can be used. We are certain the true value to the Government will only become apparent to even them once the scheme is in place." adding "It seems to be just part of a bigger drive to collect Bio Metric data from everyone the Government come into contact with. We are now finding many of our clients including students have to make a trip to Croydon from all corners of the UK. For students and people with small families and busy lives this can be quite a trip." When the scheme is finally rolled out to highly paid and skilled people who only remain in the UK with their employer under the tier visas schemes they maybe a little less welcoming.

Already a Russian opera singer cancelled his tour of the UK due to Bio Metrics being just too difficult to provide and he may be one of many who decide they would prefer to go else where rather than be subject to such tests. It has been reported the idea of Bio Metric databases would be a honey pot to hackers and ID thieves alike along with several very public instances where the Government lost data they currently hold on the majority of families in the UK including Bank Account details to Drives details going missing from the DVLA.

Over the next few months the schemes will be rolled out across the UK for all non UK citizens for the first time in our history not all men are equal and foreigners will be made to offer the most personal of details to the UK Authorities. If you agree with it or not it is now in the UK and a fact of all our lives.
