726 Schooner Court - Harbour Town Resorts of Hilton Head Island Villa Review
Sep 04, 2008
The planning for this trip was like no other, with reservations for 9 in a 4-bedroom superstructure located on the edge of the Calibogue Sound. We didn't know what to expect, years had passed since our group last met on Hilton Head Island. The Labor-Day trip was filled with high-expectations of championship tennis matches, low-country seafood boils, world-class surf-fishing, and intense, cross-island bicycling. When we arrived, we couldn't get over how close we were to the action in Harbour Town. The villa at 726 Schooner Court was located just minutes away from entertainment and amenities. We didn't waste anytime, a quick trip to the Harbour Town grocery netted some ice-cold Bud Light limes, a beer that became an icon throughout the holiday weekend. We played each day of the vacation as if it were our last. There was no better evidence of this than during our first tennis-match at the Sea Pines Racquet Club. We were playing on court #13, known to insiders as the home of Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, the well-known Spaniard who took the Family Circle Cup back in 1996. It was a hot and muggy morning, the green-clay courts were playing very slow, and onlookers were providing quite a distraction, as you would expect. The match was grueling, with the final set ending after 20 hard-fought deuces. We continued on, with plenty of fishing in the Calibogue Sound and several attempts to net blue-crabs along the shoreline. We caught several reds, a blue-fish, and something we were calling a 'Croaker', most of which were landed on 2 pound test line and a 36" inch graphite kids fishing-rod. Our vacation to 726 Schooner Court didn't end there, we spent several days tanning along Sea-Pines Beach, known to many old-timers simply as "Monarch Beach". Bike rides around Sea Pines were a great way to relax and see the island, as well as make use of our $50 beach-cruiser rentals. Each day ended with a homecoming party at 726 Schooner Court. Most nights we ate fast and casual, but on Sunday we prepared the Grand Finale Low-Country Boil with 5 pounds of shrimp, andouille sausage, potatoes, and sweet corn. During the trip, we cleared a bottle of rum, a bottle of vodka, 1/2 a bottle of tequila, about 60 Bud Light limes, and we lost track of count on the Busch lights. All in all, the trip to 726 Schooner Ct. on Hilton Head Island was very positive.
