Email Archiving Solution Urges Companies to Act Fast Before Nov. 14 Deadline

Nov 01, 2011

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- It would seem with the Financial Services Authority deadline for mobile phone recording quickly approaching that most businesses are in the process of becoming compliant, but that is not the case, said Robin Bingeman of Cryoserver a hosted email archiving solution.

"Businesses have had 12 months to implement a solution," said email archiving expert Bingeman. "Now time is running out and businesses are racing to find a compliant solution before Nov. 14 deadline."

Under the new mandate FSA regulated companies in such sectors as healthcare, financial services and government will be required to record and store their employees mobile calls in addition to calls on fixed lines for a period of six months.

This is not the first rule that the FSA has implemented on recording calls. In 2008 they mandated that all incoming and outgoing calls on business landlines be recorded. Now with more and more business being conducted on mobile phones the exemption has been lifted.

"Companies that are not yet in compliance are doing a disservice to themselves," said the email forensic expert. "There is a hefty fine for not complying with the new regulations and the longer businesses put it off the greater the risk they are taking by settling for an inadequate solution."

CryoSIM, a voice/SMS call recording solution, was introduced to the market by the developers of Cryoserver. The system is simple and effective, requiring only a replacement SIM card for the phone; no software needs to be uploaded. The calls are recorded and stored in real time and much like the Cryoserver solution; users can find any recording in the archive quickly and easily.

"It was only a matter of time before the mobile phone exemption was lifted from the 2008 mandate," said Bingeman. "CryoSIM is the product of this expectation. The market was explored and the technology has been thoroughly tested. It is fully compliant and tamper-evident."
