Findamachine's New 'Spider' Crawls Web for Lathes

Apr 10, 2008

CONGLETON, CHESHIRE -- Findamachine.com's latest feature, FindamachineBOT, offers a free time-saving service to purchasing managers searching the internet for a suitable lathe to buy. A user enters their requirements on a simple form. With 4000 lathe specifications as a starting point, the "spider" searches over 800 dealer and auctioneer's sites and supplies a list of appropriate 'in stock' lathes and turning centres in seconds.

Findamachine's new "spider" searches only current stock lists and updates itself daily ensuring al the lathes are currently available. Specifications and contact information are provided for each lathe. A potential buyer is able to compare new, used and "built to order" lathes having similar dimensions and make an informed choice quickly with direct access to the dealers.

Searching for new and used lathes for sale, accessing specifications, adding 'Wanted' machinery and inclusion in the comprehensive engineering directory are all free of charge. Any lathes and turning centres available for sale can be uploaded directly on to the site at www.findamachine.com for a small fee. The site owners are planning to extend the site to include machining centres and milling machines in the near future.

Findamachine has been a 3 year project for machine tool dealers, Macrotec Machine Tools Ltd of Congleton, Cheshire . The management team of CNC expert Stuart Moss and his son, graduate software engineer, Richard has produced a site designed by engineers for engineers.

"As machine tool dealers ourselves, we were aware how many sites there are selling machine tools. Search engines can provide information on brands of machine, but you cannot search for a machine with a particular dimension or feature, so we decided to develop a site that provided a more advanced search. It took a long time to design our search system and make it so simple to use and work for all types of lathes including multi-axis., but it is the best we've seen" says Richard Moss.

"At first our data entry team entered currently available used lathes on the site, but we found it to be time consuming and difficult to keep up with machines as they are sold. Now FindamachineBOT searches the market for all lathes and turning machines currently available and links directly to the seller's webpage.
