MV Transportation, Inc. Named Operator of the Year

Aug 09, 2007
"This award speaks volumes for the dedication of Mr. Hope and his local team."

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- The Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged (CTD) named MV Transportation as Operator of the Year during its 15th Annual Training and Technology Conference in Orlando. The announcement was made Wednesday, August 8 during the organization's awards dinner.

MV is being recognized for its performance in significantly improving paratransit services in Lake County, Florida. MV has managed the county's paratransit service since March 2005. Since that time, MV's local management team, under the leadership of General Manager David Hope, has improved on-time performance, maintenance and records of the vehicles, record keeping of driver files, driver training and retention, customer service, telephone hold times and added more vehicles to the fleet.

"Our unique ability to partner with our clients to help them design a transportation service that meets the specific needs of its riders is why MV continues to be successful and why I believe the CTD has recognized us with such a wonderful award," said Jon Monson, MV's Chief Executive Officer. "This award speaks volumes for the dedication of Mr. Hope and his local team."

MV was instrumental in helping the county reduce paratransit cost and increasing the number of drivers by eliminating a fuel surcharge and increasing driver starting pay from $8.00 to $10.50 per hour.

In addition, MV worked closely with Emergency Operations Staff to provide service to residents of Lake County after the Ground Hog Day tornado in 2006. MV staff also worked in partnership with county and consulting staff to develop the Transit Operation Plan which included funding fixed route with no additional funds.

MV currently operates the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and state-funded Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) paratransit programs for the Central Florida Regional Transportation (LYNX) in Orlando, Palm Tran in West Palm Beach and the Lake County Connection in Leesburg.
MV is also the Community Transportation Coordinator for Alachua County (Gainesville), and operates Medicaid transportation services in Duval and Palm Beach counties. In addition, MV operates the employee shuttle at Orlando International Airport, and a community senior center shuttle in Winter Springs.

Based in Fairfield, California, MV is the largest private provider of paratransit services and the largest privately-owned transportation contracting firm in the United States. The company employs more than 11,000 dedicated transit professionals and operates more than 180 contracts in 27 states.
