DEERFIELD BEACH, FL -- Cosmetic gynecologist Dr. Mark Scheinberg advises patients to research carefully when choosing a labioplasty doctor. Swimsuit season leads many women to consider getting labiaplasty.
"Summer is here," notes Scheinberg, a vaginal cosmetic surgery doctor. "Women start thinking about how they will appear in a bikini." But many women live with enlarged labia which can bulge or pinch in a swimsuit. "I often see patients who tell me they're too embarrassed by their appearance to wear bathing suits," explains Scheinberg, a Florida cosmetic gynecologist. Often, women's concerns are functional as well as aesthetic. Overly large labia can pinch and pull when a woman exercises and they can reduce pleasure during intercourse.
These concerns can be resolved with labiaplasty, surgery performed on various genital structures which will reshape and modify the appearance of the labial area. For example, a labiaplasty might shape the labia to become smooth and symmetrical or it might make the sides of the inner labia smaller while the outer lips are more contoured. "Labiaplasty makes women feel better about their appearance," notes Scheinberg, a vaginal rejuvenation specialist.
"Even if you're eager to have the surgery, you need to do your research," advises Scheinberg, who also performs vaginal reconstruction procedures. "Do not hurry out to the first doctor you can find who does these surgeries." Most labiaplasty doctors only provide straightforward or partial amputation labiaplasties. They are unaware of other techniques and don't have the best training or experience.
Vaginal plastic surgery doctor Scheinberg offers seven different labiaplasty choices and has done hundreds of labiaplasty procedures. He learned the labiaplasty techniques from the well-known expert Professor Adam Ostrzenski, Ph.D. Scheinberg has also designed his own Mark V mini labiaplasty that particularly focuses on the aesthetics of the labial area. It takes a small portion of the excess skin to replace the whole oversized labia. This hides the suture marks inside the labia's contours, creating a more attractive appearance.
