Unique Luck Acquires PetMD Database for International Network of Pet Health

HONG KONG -- Unique Luck, the parent company of the PetMD International Network today announced the completed acquisition of the PetMD databases and intellectual property in the US. Unique Luck acquired the domain "petmd.com" in 2007 and is planning to relaunch the US presence in summer of 2008.

PetMD, a proprietary online medical health database for pets was created in 1999 and continued growing into a substantial size over the following years. With little design effort and just enthusiasts maintaining the interface, PetMD's functionality was mainly used by researchers and academic institutions.

"We built and maintained PetMD as an information resource and never paid much interest to the commercial aspect of the database. We are glad to integrate with PetMD International to help build a truly unique pet health resource" says Kim Schinnerer, creator of the PetMD database.

Schinnerer will oversee the new venture PetMD US  and will be responsible for implementing the integration and development of the site in the US.  Unique Luck, LTD plans to integrate its international health resources into one central network for users worldwide. Says Dr.Lim Wu, chairman of Unique Luck, LTD "We are excited to create a global network of pet health by integrating the databases and intellectual property of PetMD in the USA with our existing network."

The PetMD free online service will provide pet owners with immediate, medically accurate information relating to pet health. PetMD is the only online resource that will tap a global network of veterinary professionals, in addition to powering the world's largest online database of companion animal disorders, symptoms and diseases.
