ServeYourNation.com Encourages Youth of Military Age to Avoid Service

Mar 21, 2008
"Without volunteers, the war stops. Without volunteers, there wouldn't have been an Abu Ghraib disgrace, and OPEC wouldn't be talking about going to a money basket system."

LAUDERHILL, FLORIDA -- Anti-war, anti-Bush activist Bob Miller is like many Americans. He believes the answer is, "No." But the difference between Miller and other Americans is that he's taking it a step further. Miller's latest project is the website ServeYourNation.com, supporting a campaign that encourages youth of military age to avoid military service. Miller's message is simple: Say 'NO' to Military Recruiters.

Miller, a Vietnam veteran, argues that getting an education is a better way to serve the United States than joining the military. That obtaining an M.B.A. is better than being K.I.A.

ServeYourNation.com is an open letter to American youth from arguably one of America's most controversial writers. Like Chalmers Johnson and Noam Chomsky, Miller has been warning Americans about the cost of war for years. For his views that the White House has involved America in a war that is irresponsible, he's been called a traitor.

Further, Miller, who served as a pilot in Vietnam and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal, makes no apologies for his often harsh words against George W. Bush, whom he believes is serving his own interests with the costly war in Iraq.

About his website ServeYourNation.com he said: "It's simple math. Without volunteers, the war stops. Without volunteers, there wouldn't have been an Abu Ghraib disgrace, and OPEC wouldn't be talking about going to a money basket system. There would be more M.B.As than K.I.A.s, and the American Dream would still be alive and well."

Bob Miller is the author of six books. His book "Kill Me If You Can, You SOB," a Vietnam memoir, has been in top one hundred books of its genre on Amazon.com since release. Visit his websites www.serveyournation.com and www.kill-me-if-you-can.com for more information.
