SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA -- College football picks and betting odds authority SBRforum.com announces its week 4 college football picks for the 2011 college football season. Our resident handicappers have made their free picks for the top upcoming games including Central Florida vs Brigham Young, Notre Dame vs Pittsburgh, Oklahoma State vs Texas A&M and LSU vs West Virginia.
Central Florida vs. Brigham Young - Friday Sept 23rd at 8pm ET
BYU has had a rough start to their season, having fallen twice already in only three contests. This Friday night they get a break from stiff competition as they host the Central Florida Knights, in a game that BYU should easily win.
Our free college football pick has BYU winning this game by 4 or more points. We also like the "Under" in this game with sportsbooks posting a total of 43 points.
The BYU Cougars are a solid 8-1 against the money line making 8.0 units per one unit wagered. The UCF Knights rank third in the nation allowing 6.7 points-per-game, but having only faced Charleston Southern, Boston College, and Florida International, they are yet to meet an offensive juggernaut.
Notre Dame vs Pittsburgh - Saturday Saturday Sept 24th at 12:00 ET
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish stayed true to their name, battling back in their third game at home versus Michigan State. Ranked #15 in the AP poll at kickoff, the Spartans were certainly no pushover and Notre Dame really showed up in front of the South Bend faithful. From the beginning the Irish were leading and never looked back, getting out to a 21-10 lead by halftime and finishing as 31-13 winners.
In the college football odds we see that Irish head to Pitt as the near touchdown-favorites at most of the top sportsbooks. The total has been set around the 53-point mark. As solid as these teams have been offensively, they've been pretty poor on the other side of the ball. Notre Dame seemed to figure some things out last weekend against the Spartans, but will they be able to stop the Panthers rushing attack? Indeed last week was impressive for the Irish, but I'm still not convinced they have truly turned the corner. I look for Pitt to roll with a heavy dose of Graham as they hold on to cover the seven points at home.
Texas A&M vs Oklahoma State - Saturday Sept 24th at 3:30pm ET
No. 7 Oklahoma State will face No. 8 Texas A&M in one of the top games to watch this weekend. Our college football pick has Texas A&M winning this game by four or more points.
With both teams ranked in the Top-10 of the national polls, this becomes a huge game for both teams and will have a significant impact on how the remainder of their seasons will unfold. Not surprising is that the public is backing the road dog, who is also the higher ranked team. Currently, small NCAAF bettors are betting Oklahoma State by about a 3-2 margin. This line may drop to four, which I would find very attractive to grab. There is just a slim chance the line could be driven to 3 1/2 points.
LSU Tigers vs West Virginia Mountaineers - Saturday Sept 24th at 8:00pm ET
LSU Tigers -5 are expected this week to win by two touchdowns against the undefeated West Virginia Mountaineers. SBR Forum's resident handicapper, John Ryan, is surprised that the Tigers are favored by only 5 points and is calling this games a prime college football betting opportunty.
LSU showed the nation their great defense in last week's 19-6 win at Mississippi State. This will be the third ranked opponent for LSU in their first four games of the season against West Virginia's schedule that has not been as challenging until now. The Mountaineers will bring their elite passing program but expect LSU to attack the "A" gap in the Mountainner offensive line. That combined with LSU's high speed defense will create a high scoring game for LSU.
