DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA -- The 1980's teenage heart throb best known for her role as Thelma on the TV sitcom, Good Times, will be the keynote speaker during the First Annual Baby Boomer Girlfriends Spring Break in Daytona Beach, FL. Bern Nadette Stanis will join hundreds of women from around the country as they converge on Daytona Beach April 18-20, 2008 for a weekend of education, entertainment and empowerment. "I am honored to have Bern Nadette join us," says event organizer and fellow baby boomer Beverly Mahone. "She looks as good as she did 20 years ago and is a fabulous example of what it means to be a woman on the move and making a difference at midlife!" Stanis will speak at the luncheon which begins at 12pm on Saturday, April 19 at the Hilton Oceanfront Resort .
Mahone, who is author of the book, Whatever! A Baby Boomer's Journey Into Middle Age, says the three-day spring event was created to offer mature women a total empowerment experience," says Mahone. "After 40, our needs, wants and desires change. This is the weekend where women can throw caution to the wind and do something just for us."
The weekend will be filled with lots of activities including the filming of a Baby Boomers in the New Millennium Town Hall Meeting by PBS Station WCEU-TV, an awards ceremony, Diva pageant, karaoke and dance contests and a pajama party. There will also be workshops on topics of interest to middle-aged women and an opportunity to win $100 cash for your workshop participation.
