LANHAM, MARYLAND -- The web site that serves as "Big Sister" to hundreds of women worldwide is rapdily growing. Headed up by sisters, Leslie Green and Lucretia Bailey, My Sister's Keeper, (M.S.K.) connects women of every culture to others who share common needs, desires, and aspirations. It's a place to come for help when you need something, advice, to meet new friends, household items, clothing, books, help with your children, furniture, or anything else you can think of.
It's a way to "Pay it Forward" and develop friendships that would not have been possible without the M.S.K. network. My Sister's Keeper members are entered into a secured database to participate in the program. Personal information is never given to other members without prior consent. Members agree to be an MSK Sister by first committing to help someone else and then in return they are eligible to receive assistance from another member.
The mission is to help women realize that we are more alike than different. Everyone has something to offer whether it's tangible or wisdom, encouragement, advice or motivation. Women share many common bonds and situations in life that will require them to seek assistance. Sometimes it's hard to find a friend or someone who will be willing to help free of charge. It's sad but we know it's true. If there is one woman who has four cars and she only uses two and there is another woman, a single mother of 4 kids who needs a car but can't afford it......why not give her a car? If an elderly woman needs nice clothing to wear to church and there's an MSK sister who owns a clothing store or just has a closet full of nice dresses that she doesn't wear.....why not help? If there is a young woman trying to start her own business and there are MSK members who can serve as mentors......we want to help make those connections. The possibilities are endless!
My Sister's Keeper will have the database to make this happen. Members will stay in touch through newsletters and the web site. We are calling ALL women to join this network of not only friends but "Sisters". Let's change this world one sister at a time. The network is gearing up for their 1st annual Conference July 21st in Lanham, MD. The focus is , "A Day of Empowerment, A Lifetime of Change."
