Women's Adult Toy Company Takes Stand for Condoms and Ending Violence with V-Day

Jan 31, 2008

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Zip Zap Toys, an erotic product company dedicated to female sexual empowerment, is teaming with local productions of Eve Ensler's award winning play, The Vagina Monologues, to raise money for the international V-Day charity. V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls, with the official V-Day season running from January 1 through March 31 this year. To show their support of this movement, Zip Zap Toys is donating 20% of their sales of a sleek and sexy condom compact on their website, www.zipzaptoys.com.

Jennifer "Dr. Jenn" Gunsaullus, PhD, the educational director of Zip Zap Toys, has worked with The Vagina Monologues for over 6 years, as an actor, director, and professor/organizer. This year, she is taking a fresh approach, combining her dedication to sexual health education with V-Day fundraising through the sale of the condom compacts. "Unfortunately, in many ways it is still taboo for women to carry their own condoms. Yet, if they are sexually active, it's an invaluable way to take responsibility for their pleasure and health, and ensure that the condom has been protected from potential damage. Condom compacts are a fun way to be smart and sexy!" Dr. Jenn explains.

The Rendez-Vous Red "Just in Case" Condom Compacts are clever, chic compacts that open to a mirror and hidden compartment that holds and protects up to two condoms. The shiny red compacts are flashy yet discrete, and 20% of the sales of each $25 compact will be donated to the V-Day movement.

Each year, V-Day focuses on a specific area of the world and group of women, celebrating their strength, and raising funds to support their vision and resistance to violence. The spotlight group this year, the 10-year anniversary of V-Day, is the "Katrina Warriors," the women of New Orleans and the Gulf South, who have tirelessly worked to keep their communities alive. "What happened in New Orleans and the Gulf South after the flood and storm represents the challenges that women face worldwide - violence, global warming, racism, lack of healthcare and education, financial insecurity, and the failure of local and national governments," stated V-Day Founder/Artistic Director Eve Ensler. To date, the V-Day movement has raised over $50 million and educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it.
